Pedagogy in the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities

 Introduction

The digital era has profoundly transformed the educational landscape, creating new spaces and methodologies for the teaching-learning process. This technological revolution not only modifies the tools available, but also redefines the traditional roles of teachers and students in the academic environment.

In this context, pedagogy is facing an unprecedented transformation where digital technologies are integrated as fundamental elements of the educational process. Teachers must develop capacities to promote content learning and guide the ethical and pedagogical use of digital technologies (Lopes et al., 2024).

Contemporary education requires a perspective that understands both the benefits and challenges of digitalization. On the one hand, technological tools offer communication channels and dynamic methodologies that allow learning to be personalized and respect the different rhythms and styles of knowledge assimilation (Lopes et al., 2024).

However, it is essential to recognize that the digital divide represents a significant obstacle to educational equity. Digitalization can increase socioeconomic differences between students with and without access to digital tools (Medina López-Rey, 2024).

The pandemic accelerated this digital transformation in education, highlighting the need to develop effective virtual learning ecosystems and environments. This situation has highlighted the importance of analysing the interactions between the different actors in the educational process in digital environments (Balladares-Burgos et al., 2024).

In this new educational paradigm, it is essential to establish a pedagogy that integrates face-to-face and digital elements, considering the specific needs of each educational context and guaranteeing equitable access to learning opportunities.
